DWI cases charged as misdemeanors are heard in the New York City Criminal
Court. The only exception to this rule is the Bronx where the Criminal
and Supreme Courts have recently combined to alleviate a chronic backlog
of cases.
If the case is charged as a felony for a repeat DWI offender (2nd DWI
within 10 years or with a serious accident), the courthouse locations
are the same with the exception of Brooklyn (Kings County), which has
a separate Supreme Court building. The location for Brooklyn (Kings
County) felony DWI cases in Supreme Court also appears separately below.
If you have a DWI charge, you are required to appear for all scheduled
court dates. If you do not appear, a warrant can be issued for
your arrest, bail can be set in your case, or you can be charged with
the separate offense of bail jumping if bail has already been set.
The Law Offices of Adam D. Perlmutter, P.C. handles cases in all five
boroughs of New York City as well as throughout Long Island and Westchester. If
you or someone you know has a New York City DWI case, you can go to their
arraignment or set another court date at the following locations depending
on what county their case is pending in.
